If you share your EndNote Libraries by emailing compressed library files to collaborators, those running older versions of EndNote will not be able to open them if you upgrade to the latest version. Some users have reported problems with the conversion process. Version X9.3 introduced a new file format for EndNote Library files and data folders, and requires converting your existing EndNote Libraries to this new file format, which is not backwards compatible with older versions of EndNote. Current EndNote users looking to upgrade from older, pre-X9 versions might consider installing version X9.2 because:. 
New users who are installing EndNote for the first time and macOS users running Catalina or later should install the latest version, EndNote 20.
The Library provides EndNote 20, the latest version.Į ndNote X9.2 remains available for users who are unable to convert their existing EndNote libraries to the new file format required in later versions.
